Vendor Spotlight: P’Oshun’s Collective

Tacoma Farmers Market provides small business incubation resources to local business owners. Patrice Norwood of P’Oshun’s Collective joined our markets in 2020 and tells her story of what TFM’s services can do to support a new small business:

My family’s health is why P’Oshun’s got started. My dad has stage 4 lung cancer and had got another diagnosis they said would be progressive and he was becoming more ill at the same time I was having major health issues myself and I kept hearing about sea moss and all the health benefits so I decided to give a try. Noticing immediate results for my dad and I, I knew this was going to be a life long journey of healing! I began sharing with others and their results were truly magical to me. My dad had never had normal lab results and no side effects from chemo since before sea moss and herbal teas. I was determined to share our story!

P’Oshun’s was just a thought and then manifested into reality in June 2020! As soon as I came up with the name I applied for an LLC, license and any permits necessary. I started doing pop up events all summer that led to being a vendor with Tacoma Farmers Markets in July! That eventually landed us a permanent space within The Market at Point Ruston in Sept 2020!

Tacoma Farmers Market referred me to the Spaceworks business cohort in Dec 2020, I got accepted, and graduated in March 2021. I applied for another cohort within Spaceworks, the Black Business Accelerator and completed on July 20 2021. I had so much going on between juggling all three TFMs and Spaceworks, I decided to pull out of all markets and focus on Spaceworks but here I am now rebranding and adding more to the collective awaiting space for P’Oshun’s Smoothies Teas and Salad bar at The Market at Point Ruston! I am so grateful for the relationships I have built and how much I have knowledge I have gained to run be able to run a successful small business in the city of Tacoma.

We are so grateful to continue supporting Patrice, from new business ownership to scaling up for a permanent location! P’Oshun’s is just one example of the ways TFM is helping to build a strong local economy.
