“Dick and I are happy to announce our retirement but we are quite sad to be leaving this wonderful community that has supported us for the last 30 years. We just can’t give up farming altogether, so we are moving to a smaller farm in Ellensburg, next door to our son. We want to spend more time with our family, and our growing grandkids before they all grow up and leave home. We started here with twenty acres of raspberries over 30 years ago and have worked hard to grow an abundance of good, organic food for the wonderful people in our community. We have loved being your farmers.”
Although Dick and Terry will be sorely missed by the farming community they are leaving their farm in very good hands to the next generation of young up and coming Pierce County Farmers.
“While we will be moving on, we are leaving you in good hands. Katie and Mark Green have been with us for two years now, and are excited and passionate about growing great organic produce and carrying on the traditions of Terry’s Berries. Please support them as you have supported us. It is time for new young farmers to take over.”
Terry has been a long-time board member at the Tacoma Farmers Market. She was also one of the original farmers that started the market 24 years ago with a goal of revitalizing downtown Tacoma and providing its residents with healthy, organic produce for their families. We’ll miss her wit and wisdom on our board, but we’ll expect to see her good Ellensburg asparagus at the markets soon. No pressure Terry.
Best of luck to you both!
